A dollop of honey and a sploosh of lemon juice, dissolved in hot water makes an excellent throat-soothing, vitamin-C filled drink.
Walking! Preferably outside in fresh air, definitely gets the tubes cleared a bit. Keep going 'til your cheeks are good and rosy!
For dinner, a nice homemade curry or chili, with plenty warming paprika, is good for clearing congestion (and it's about all you'll be able to taste!).
And a final tip, from a recurrent cold-sufferer - start slapping the E45 cream on your nose NOW, or you'll be peeling crusty skin off it this time next week. Attractive! Hope you feel much better soon.

Pass it on to someone else as quickly as possible. Word of advise, dont pass it on to your husband/ partner/ bf. They always get it worse than us women...they get the sniffles and you'd think it was scarlet fever.
You could try breathing heavily at complete strangers, however this could get you arrested. But....then again if you get arrested I'm willing to bet it stops you thinking about your sore nose and throat!!
On 2nd thoughts- take Eels advise, far more sensible. I have to go now the ward sister is calling me back to my nice cushiony room :-)
