Retainer Brite

My kids have retainers that they only use through the night, they clean them everyday with Retainer Brite but they keep complaining that they retainers aren't clean and that they still smell. Anyone else have kids with this problem?

Is there any reason why they couldn't use Milton sterilising fluid? I don't want to just chance it as they're £160 a set to replace.
