Last week my leg started itching I can only assume I was bitten but it started forming into something which looked like a bruise. I believed it would eventually go away but now its spreading, it looks like the bruise is travelling down a vein, quite freaked out at the thought though, anyone have any thoughts before I bother the doctor?!

I wouldn't like to take a guess on what it could be evertonsue - I think it would be best to consult your GP for diagnosis. Good luck.

Hello,

Yes, evertonsue, please go to the doctors as smudge says.  We don't want to worry you with suggestions.

Take care

Hi evertonsue

Im not wanting to panic you but I had this a few years back and it was an allergic reaction to a bite and I took antihistimine. Best to have it checked by the doc though.

i had one similar during the summer..my leg swole up and it looked like i had a love bite on my leg...and boy did it itch...well i put some arnica ointment on and it took a few days for it to go away...i have one on my elbow now..it went up like a mountain on my elbow its taken 3 weeks to heal..and i am sure their is something still left under where the bite was..as it aches when i lift anything..their must be some superhuman biting insects around this summer..
You could try seeing a chemist.  I did this a few years ago when I had been bitten, the area was all red and swollen and I could see a red line travelling up the vein.  The chemist sent me straight to the Docs however, who said I had an allergic reaction to whatever had bitten me and stuck me on medication straight away.
Please go see a doctor, same thing happened to me and i put it off. My parents saw it when they came to see me (i was a student in halls) and dragged me to hospital. Turns out it was a blood clot and i had to be injected in my stomach for three days. Please dont go through what i went through, get it sorted straight away. In fact, if you are reading this and still haven't been to the doctor then go A&E now.
Let us know if everything is ok.
Good luck.
