Errrr...
The Russians shot down a plane over the Pacific a few years ago. The Americans did the same to an Iranian one over the Persian Gulf. It's not just bearded terrorists from the Middle East we need to fear.
What?
Probably acting on some intelligence, the US have requested we increase our security. So we have.

Not sure what that has to do with racial tension, or your globetrotting. If the US knows planes to their country may be targeted, do you not agree it is probably a good move to be more vigilant?
TWR - go private then, you know you can afford a Lear Jet. Enjoy....
Take the ferry/train?

Gromit, the problem is getting worse
There are reports in local papers about a young man from Derry who has 'turned Turk' and gone to Syria to fight with ISIS. If his bosses persuaded him to become a suicide bomber and attack an aircraft he'd slip under the racial profile radar. He's as white as you or me.
I'd rather fly with increased vigilance than fly with reduced vigilance. Even if it takes a little longer to go through security.
It is not as bad as 9/11 when 4 planes were hijacked. From US airports.

Richard Reid was not from an ethnic minority. He boarded a plane to the US with a concealed bomb. If there is to be a terrorist attack, I doubt the terrorist will have a funny name and lots of middle eastern stamps in his (or her) passport. That is why checks are to be tightened.

I do not have a problem with the airport security Gromit, but why should these scum make persons afraid to fly?
What's the answer?

You'll have to give us a fighting chance at understanding the question, first...
The first bombing of a civilian airline was in 1933.

More planes crash though equipment failure or pilot error than terrorist attack, so your fear is probably not warranted.
\\\\\More planes crash though equipment failure or pilot error than terrorist attack, so your fear is probably not warranted.\\\\

Mmmm! not sure that that is reassuring.

However, I have some sympathy with the opinion of TWR, not so much as taking away their passports, but for treating Muslims equally with Non Muslims at airport security.

Mrs sqad was behind a Muslim woman who was dressed with full burkha and allowed to pass without checks. Mrs sqad had a full security check she did not object to, but did object to the treatment that the Muslim woman got, or didn't get.

Each should be treated equally.

if it was a woman, sqad. ;)
That I agree on.

[i] Note to self, advice to Sqad and TWR: remember to wear a burqa next time going through an airport[i]
Svejk......QUITE!
When we flew recently myself, himself, thing 1 and girl all got pulled over for extra 'checking', I didn't object excuse that's just the way it is. I didn't think in unfair, nor did I notice who else had been pulled over for extra checking. If you don't like, it don't fly.
