Good Grief - Christmas Stuff Already

It's not even the end of July and I have already seen my first 'festive' menu and Christmas Day menu :(

It's the same with Xmas presents and cards in shops. If enough people stopped succumbing to the social pressure which surrounds the aforementioned national holiday, shops would leave it alone.
It's already happening, albeit gradually, with young people who understand what a total scam Xmas cards are and don't bother at all. Coupled to that, every year I get more and more emails from old friends who say that they've stopped sending cards and now make a donation to charity instead.
I can't see the pressure of Xmas presents dissipating any time soon, though.

I actually have a plan this year - I am not going to leave the shopping until the second week of December (but I am not going to bore everyone rigid with my progress)! I am going to get bargains (using the various bargain hunting sites) as I am saving to go on holiday next year. Made massive savings last year by not having the Lego/Hello Kitty advent calendars and having the 'Advent Calendar Bag of Doom' instead (which was a huge hit!).
