Can Some Shampoos Discolour Highlighted Hair?

Can some shampoos (over time) actually discolour highlighted blonde hair?

I have been using Kerastase Bain De Force. The shampoo apparently reinforces the hair and coats it with a protein. The shampoo is green in colour.

I am not sure if it is my imagination, but the colour seems to look duller when this shampoo is used. I then tried using Aussie Mega Shampoo and the colour seemed to become a little brighter again.

It has got me wondering, if these 'reinforcing shampoos' that coat hair actually contribute to colour fade and dulling. Any ideas if this could be true?

I wouldn't know about that particular shampoo, but yes, if you have highlights I believe you can't just use any old shampoo, you need to use one suitable for highlights.
I believe a lot of shampoos actually coat the hair with a 'plastic' type substance which logically suggests it might dullen colour - presumably that's why most major ranges have a shampoo/conditioner specifically designed for coloured hair.
