Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects the “right to private and family life”, allows a double murderer into Britain.

Strangely, in connection with another question, I was looking yesterday at UKIP's policies. This was because, having been labelled a party of "loonies" and "fruitcakes" they moved on yesterday to being a party for the "unhinged". Among their policies is this:

"Prevent foreign criminals entering the UK - by re-introducing border controls that the EU forced us to abandon"

and most importantly this:

- Remove the UK from the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights.

So it seems that allowing this individual to enter the UK is perfectly sane and reasonable and a decision made by someone of sound mind. If it's all the same I think I'll take my unhinged views and join the loonies and fruitcakes.
Me too Judge.
It's due to an error by a Tory Minister - get real.
Why should we worry about leaving the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights? Hundreds of other countries are not signitories.
Stretching the point tgere a bit canary. I doubt verymuch she hands them in hersel!
So you're suggesting, canary, that had the said mistake not been made (which as far as I can see only hastened his entry but not forcing the matter to be properly adjudicated in the appeal court) this individual would have remained outside the UK. This, remember, is a man who is married to a UK citizen and who has three children all born in the UK. This is also a man who had already been granted right of entry by an immigration tribunal, who had appealed that decision and who has been granted lifelong anonymity by the courts.

If you had to gamble your house on which way the appeal would have gone if properly heard what way would you bet? And you ask me to get real !!!
