Went into our local Homebase today, justyou go into the main building one of their works was standing inside asking " Do you want a basket" I felt for the lad, I think homebase is going overboard with this, what do you think?

Well, it pays him a wage.
It's just that they're trying to make customers feel welcome, make them think that a customer is worth a bit of attention. Rather than just saying, in effect, there's the stuff on the shelves, get what you fancy.
Anyway, I thought everyone who went into Homebase actually had a trolley, not a basket. You can't get many tins of paint in a basket.

They used to have a guy doing something similar at B&Q ( well they did at my local shop ), I think they stopped that a couple of years ago.
At least youve got a Homebase, our local one closed earlier this year!

Do it in B&Q as well. In ours it always seems to be people of retirement age or above.
It's a welcome better than being ignored and it is a wage for them at least they are trying to be customer friendly unlike many stores today!
