cognitive behavioural therapy Psybo
Yes, hugely. I had CBT about 11yrs ago and it 'shifted' a huge issue in my life and made me able to live with it.
I am having more at the moment and I am already starting to feel better.
Cognitive behavioural therapy. Not personally, I imagine it works in some cases.

Blimey, some folk are quick at typing...
Sorry ;o)

I didn't nailit, but it's worth a try
Thanks all
Not really, when I started typing there were no answers!!
Hi Nailit, I did, and continue to do so. I found it was not an easy quick fix, it is a process to help with thoughts and behaviour. Both of those have been wobbly for years so it takes time to re-adjust. With me I went along for therapy for a couple of sessions before I realised there might be something in it for me. I took their advice, although it sounded daft in the session and over a period of time , my world began to change. If you are offered it, go for it. x
I though it was about "Compulsory Basic Training" for Motorcycles
I don't think that it suits everyone. A few years back my Consultant psychiatrist suggested it but then thought about it and decided that it might make me worse?!?

I am almost resigned that I will feel mentally awful until I die. If it wasn't for my little ones I sometimes wonder if I could keep going.

On that bright note I am off to do war with with the duvet cover, I hate changing them.

:-)

Thanks all. Having a course of CBT but cant honestly say (of yet) that its helped. Maybe time will tell, hope so. Ive got social anxiety issues and have at least pinpointed where it stems from, that was quite enlightening, but as of yet got no resolution to feeling like I do. Knowing the WHY is not going to show the HOW. (to resolution)

Im curious wolf, why did your psychiatrist think it might make you worse?
nailit - at the time I was too doped up on antipsychotic medication to ask the guy and he has moved on to pastures new.

These days my memory and attention span are too shot too hell to be able to do any talking therapy. The joy of the internet is that it allows you a bit of time to think about things before replying.

wolf, don't you go anywhere, I'd miss you. I like hearing about Frankie and merlin.. nailit. just go with the cbt, what have you got to lose ?

I happen to think that psychiatry is a pseudo science and is actually dangerous. But that is another story for another thread, especially for those that have never had anything to do with it.
//The joy of the internet is that it allows you a bit of time to think about things before replying. // Talking therapy in typing form? I can go with that.
