I would have wanted to give each of them a physical talking to, I just would hope that I could restrain myself, I think I would have to have forcibly removed them from the store!!
Its a very sad world where this abuse is still actually tolerated!!

I would do it again if needed
Of course it was a setup, to test the public reaction would be & of course the response was typical, the herd instinct of me,me & anyone regarded as being
Retarded should not really be seen in public. I am fortunately not like this & my immediate reaction would be to protect any person less fortunate than myself & try to defend he or she against any scene like the one shown & I am sure that the majority of people would do the same.

Wouldn't even think twice I would have said something and have done. Only a few weeks ago I heard a woman in a store bad mouthing her 9 year old, calling her a stupid (female dog) -the little girl was about 9 years old and she started to cry. She made eye contact with me and said to her little girl 'look you've made that women stare now'. I'm afraid I let rip and told her she was a female dog for treating her child like that and making her cry. That stopped her in her tracks and she carried on her way saying in a loud voice 'come on darling, mummy's here don't cry now'. Unbelievable.
Sqad - "The whole thing is a set up...a publicity stunt and doesn't necessarily reflect public attitude or opinion to the issue."
It was a set-up, and I think it entirely shows the attitude of some, but by no means all - people.
My response is outlined in my response queuing at my local library to check out some books, waiting for an old lady to be served by an Asian librarian.
The woman turned to me and said, loudly - "And British people can't get jobs ..."
I replied - "This lady may very well be British, I don't know, but I do know that you are a disgusting racist and you should be utterly ashamed of yourself!"
The old woman walked off tutting, and the librarian thanked me for defending her.
I think it's appalling that anyone needs to be offended doing their job and going about their daily lives.
Free speech is a wonderful concept, but like most wonderful concepts, it has its share of abusers.
In the supermarket, I would have reacted strongly - very strongly indeed.
