I have found many wire rimmed round framed specs on eBay that I really like and very cheap but they don't come with lenses, would I be able to get the lenses through a local optician or online somewhere?

somehow i don't think you can, but i don't know why i think that. You could always ask them. Do you have a strong prescription?
you old hippy , re your op, don't know :)
I know specsavers can put lenses into your own frames but it does cost a lot.

No not strong, I can pretty much manage without glasses, more for driving and watching TV.
I meant to say - but not sure about round lenses, they are vintage now but maybe you could look on vintage spectacles websites or even google vintage spectacles?
Before spending, print off a picture of the frames and take in and ask them.
When I was a kid there were two types of frames available on the NHS (the lenses were free). The wire ones were free and the plastic ones were 10/6. When, at the age of 15, I required glasses I refused to wear both. I persuaded my mother to fork out £3/12/6, telling her that if I had to wear NHS specs then people would think we were a poor family. She immediately coughed up.

You need to find an optician within the ethnic communities, as a friend of mine discovered. You say what you want and they will do it.
Yes. I had my shooting glasses (not a standard shape or design) fitted with lenses at Specsavers.

Lol Khandro, I'm not sure we have much in the way of ethnic communities in Wales.

Yes you have, they're called Welsh, or Cymry if you prefer.
I've just asked my husband (optician) and he said that most opticians would be able to do it for you, as long as the frame is workable.
