Seriously? Was it really THAT offensive?

The shirt in question:

OK, the guy is a bit of an eccentric but came across as hugely passionate about his subject and excited beyond belief, the point that he's had tattoos of the event.
But was the shirt something to apologise for? The women were 'scantilly clad' but there are no bare breasts/buttocks on show, just leather corsets etc and they're portrayed as probably sc-fi type characters.
But did him donning it warrant the *** storm that followed, or was it just a few bra-burners looking for an excuse?

Jeeez does everyone have to get so bloody hysterically offended over everything? nothing offensive about the shirt, he shouldn't have had to apologise and should have apologised and the people who are offended need to get a life. I'm possibly the biggest feminist you would ever meet but there's nothing 'anti female' about that shirt, or indeed the man...

If I had been PR Officer for the Mission, I think I would have suggested a shirt that was more 'professional' and less distracting

The stuff he was talking about was far too important to be upstaged by a dodgy shirt
exactly chilldo

you werer probably reminded about the medical corps tee shirt after Galtieri's defeat in the Falklands which showed an army medic booting G up the ass

It had to be re-drawn and reprinted as the original showed not a leg kicking his a+++ but well you know.... [ its a family site ]
He will be remembered
I dont blame him for doing it

you know that fellow who wore the hawaiian tee shirt when Philae landed ....

I just think he was in a buoyant mood and the colour/pattern of the shirt he chose reflected his state of mind.
He came across as very passionate about his subject, but then most of them are.
It's just a shame that such a stunning achievement has to be overshadowed by some PC bu!!$h1te on Twitter, though I doubt even his tearful apology will assuage those who moaned.
he cried ! ?

I hadnt realised that

he has a career in acting clearly
At least the shirt can be binned when everyone is tired of it ie. about now, but the tattoos?

I'm possibly the biggest feminist you would ever meet but there's nothing 'anti female' about that shirt, or indeed the man himself, so it's all a *** storm over nothing. Irritating as hell.
So he is an astro physics genius

but not bright enough to realise that when he is explaining his wonderful ten year mission a portion of his audience are thinking; "what the hell is he wearing?"

Not so smart then...
The only thing that he needs to apologise about is his bad taste in shirts....oh yes and the tattoos............

OK Zeuhl he's a bit eccentric, but don't we expect that of our scientists? Like I said, he was undoubtedly riding the wave of enthusiasm and achievement when he (metaphorically) surfed into work that morning.
I wish all our science teachers were as passionate about their subjects as him.
Like kvali said...what a storm over nothing.
1) It's an awful shirt, but so what.?

2) They've been working on that mission for 25 years, and he'll probably spend the rest of his career working on the results, so why shouldn't he get a tattoo of it? People get a tattoo of a chinese symbol that means f* all on a whim. This obviously means something to him.
// I wish all our science teachers were as passionate about their subjects as him.//

we all have one or two good inspirational teachers and that sort of makes up for the rest.
Someone showed me a photo on their phone and asked me to guess why he was in the news today.

My first guss ... "is he a serial killer?"

So he has an unfortunate choice of shirts. More to be pitied than vilified.
Nothing wrong with it,some folk just love to be 'outraged and offended' is there a degree course in it? Seems awfully popular.
Storm in a teacup.
If he was stood on a beach in Hawaii clutching a can of Budweiser nobody would so much as blink.

PS: I don't have a shirt like that :-(
His shirt was nothing to be embarrassed about in front of the cameras, compared to the English female scientist, who hysterically jumped up and down screaming, with her massive boobs going up and down two feet, like a yo-yo!
Well now I am outraged, how very dare she !! 2 Feet!, I can only manage 22".

Disgraceful.
