Hello

I have been prescribed Lidocaine patches for a pain problem in my ankle. When I went to Boots to pick up the prescription the patches were around 10x10 in size which is way too big.

Does anyone know if you can get the patches in a smaller size? Likely need around 5x5. The lady in Boots didn't know.

Also any experience of using them? Are they worth it?

Thanks

Thanks but the chemist advised not cutting them down. I had no idea they cost that much. Now I see they don't prescribe them.

Why*
is the patch an impregnated material? or is there a reservoir of liquid?
if the former, yes you can cut them. If the latter you can't As to the efficacy i have only heard them used once and that was for cancer pain and it was effective.

I've no idea Bedknobs. All I know is that the Chemist advised not to cut them. Thanks though.
look at them - can you ee a liquid reservoir?
Question Author
I didn't buy them becayse they were too big and the chemist advised against cutting them. Was hoping there were smaller ones available.
Cutting them would cut the dose and make them less effective.
Speak to your GP to see if they can recommend somewhere to source the smaller patches, or prescribe something else more suitable.

I get the feeling they are little used as the GP had to google re the patches when suggesting them. She couldn't even find them in her medicine book.

Will just wait until I see my surgeon again and ask him. Been pain relief free for months so a couple more weeks won't kill me I suppose.
