Support Bandage Or Brace?

My gp's told me I have RSI due to me using my laptop as I work online p/t for a charity. GP said to either take ibrofen or massage ibrufen gel into my arm and hand and also to use a brace or support bandage. If anyone has the same problem,brace or support? tia.

The difference is miraculous
The bandage or splint is actually about immobilising the joint(s) and enforcing rest and encouraging the joint(s) to be in the right position and make the right movement. Complete immobilisation may not be necessary, just limiting the extent of the movement may be enough. Methyl and Frognog are dead right about wrist rests and low profile keyboards, also TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS and do something else that uses your wrists differently.
Oh PS, the good old bag of frozen peas to rest the wrist on is great for pain relief
I had to wear a splint for 3 months due to RSI. I am currently experiencing Tendonitis and Ligament damage in the same wrist and was told to use my splint (lost) so I have been wearing a support bandage doubled (wearing two) and it does the same job but I would recommend a splint, it worked a treat for me and it still allowed me to work.
You may not be able to do this, as it feels very odd, but it helped me enormously :
place your laptop/keyboard right on the edge of your desk and type with the wrist not touching anything. I found wrist cushions/rests/supports only made things worse, but a splint-type strapped support worn at nights did help. (From a well-known high-street chemist's.)
I got it so badly in my winkie - sorry index finger that I taught myself to use the mouse left handed....
I just strapped up my wrist this morning (crepe bandage) and it helps. It keeps it warm and is a visual reminder that I must not use it too much. Feels as if I've cracked a bone, but I haven't done anything, so I'm hoping it is a strain.
