Given that we've all got cards for banks/office/library/travel with the attendant issues of remembering password/pin numbers/etc, would you be willing to take this step... Or would the thought of the "powers that be" keeping track of you through your chip put you off.

I personally think it is fraught with many dangers, ie what happens if you change job/house/country of residence? Seems to be a step to far in our connected world.

I wouldn't want my hand falling into the wrong hands!

I always joked that this would happen one day....never thought it would actually happen. Imagine, one for work, one for health records, one for membership at the gym, one for spending money and of course one for tracking your husband!!
The phone is used to pay in many places Nibble, we saw this done in H.K.
I would give it consideration.

Have you read the article, TW?
I can see this becoming as routine as chipping your pet within 20 years.
Walking past the cat flap without it springing open would be a problem.
You wouldn't need different chips for different things. The chip could be programmed and reprogrammed remotely whilst it is in situ.
it is a bit like a tattoo saying my "wife is Joanne"

happens when you re marry and er your second wifes name isn't Jo ?

dogs don't seem to mind it tho

or taking the tube in central London
or buying the Times when you wanted the Telegraph
I dont really see a problem with it to be honest, I imagine we would be able to programme it ourselves vie a PC and just give it the information we want it to have.
If it were universal it could be very useful for first responders in medical emergencies - blood group, illnesses, that sort of thing
If they are able to carry a GPS old people, crazy/vulnerable people and kids could be traced quickly if they went missing.
It's only a step up from what we already do to our pets, the powers that be will be keeping track of you anyway.
There are one or two use this site Wolf.
TWR - us crazy people are everywhere. :-)
It's not for me.....it would go wrong.....

One of my underwired bras used to set the alarms off in
T.J Hughes stores......
The first time it happened I was almost naked before they were convinced I wasn't a shoplifter and let me out.... :-(
Would they be easy to get out again if you were sacked or left the company?
I don't think it would work like that, boo. I think one chip would hold all the information you wanted it to, and could be deleted or added to remotely.
I would imagine that we could get our own fitted and then just store the information we want to store etc.

Maybe they would use your butt as some sort of USB port?
