Once or twice a year,I have episodes of skin tenderness. It's usually either on the outer part of my arm- just below the wrist,or on my face along the cheekbone up towards the eye. Tender is the only word to describe it...or maybe "sensitive to touch". This has happened randomly all my adult life. I took some anadin earlier...which helped for just a short time. It's annoying more than anything else, and I wonder what causes it.

Mild neuralgia maybe? I've had it myself from time to time and find that the most annoying thing is that it feels like a good rub will relieve it but doesn't.

Parasthesia and, as it is long standing and knowing your psychological "build up" (postings over many years) I will confidently suggest that they may well be due to anxiety states or panic attacks.
I get a wee bit on my forehead above my eye that goes like that when I am stressed or very tired , so Sqad`s suggestion may well be on target !
murray.....know

Eeek!... "knowing pastafreak as i do"
You weren't supposed to tell anyone!! :O ;-)
Now I need to go Google parasthesia....
I'll
save the *** for later...;-)
If you ever find out, Pasta...let me know please.....I've had four areas exactly the same for as long as I can remember.....but permanently...not in episodes...

The backs of my upper arms and thighs.....the most annoying part is I can't ever have a full body massage.....just can't bear those areas being touched.
Training to do massage was agony.....trying to lie still and smile while another trainee was....."relaxing"...me with a massage.....x

Hiya gness...I've never known anyone else with it...but it seems to be experienced by others. I stumbled on this ... http://www.healthboards.com/boards/general-health/435656-weird-very-sore-skin-left-side-face.html

I've also googled parasthesia and neuralgia...neither quite fits the bill. It's so random,I never think to ask a doctor about it,and it's been part of me since my teens...maybe early 20's.
It's paraesthesia...........don't argue..;-)

Did someone just say something...????
;-)
Pasta...in all the years I massaged I never met anyone with an area that couldn't be touched for this reason.
Mine is always there but in degrees....sometimes just brushing my upper arm against a door frame can be agony.....it's a very surface pain....not deep as in muscle pain.

Neither parasthesia nor neuralgia fit either....I put it down to a bit of an oddity.....☺

Thank you for the link....x
