There is a company called Reglaze My Glasses. If you have a favourite specs-frame, you can send it to them, with your lens-prescription, and they will return it suitably 'reglazed'.
Does anyone know of a company which does the same in reverse, as it were? That is, one to which I could send the broken frame with the quite new lenses still inserted, who could then find an identical/near-identical frame into which they could place them.
The company which made the specs has recently gone mammaries heavenward, you see!

Thanks for the idea, Chrissa. As you suggest, 'normal' opticians seem to think we were all born yesterday!
For years, I dealt perfectly happily re specs with a small on-line company; sadly, they seem to have gone out of business, but it is something along these lines I definitely need. Cheers

They are not exactly what you want, but it might be worth asking them. The phone number is on the website and I have always found the person I have spoken to to be helpful.
They provide a good fast service at a fraction of the cost of opticians.
( No, I don't have shares in them! )
