Incisional Hernia Repair (Laparoscopic/keyhole)

Has anyone had one? Is it normal to get this much pain when trying to stand from a sitting or prone position?
Bearing in mind I had a hysterectomy less than 2 years ago and any remaining scar tissue might make the situation slightly more complicated.

I had the op Fri afternoon and felt faint with the pain yesterday. I can barel move in bed - any which way. Ok, I had left the codeine off... But I am wary of taking too much of that. Maybe I should take it for at least a week?

Of course it is blo.dy painful........2 days post op for an abdominal operation.

Codeine........? that will make you constipated.

Take Ibuprofen in sqad's special dosage.

hw much ibuprofen dja recommend sqad ?

You should be taking paracetamol 1g every four hours
( that is up to 6 g a day )

and then ibuprofen in sqad's special dose - 250 mg is usual every six hours but I suspect that S is going for 500 mg every six hours which is OK

of course you will have pain you silly girl if you dont take anythin for it !

I am a stubborn *** who is far too independent and tries to be strong and a big brave solider. And I am wary of addictive drugs. Unless its alcohol.

I suppose I am expecting too much too soon. ;-)

Booting people out of hospital far too early
and then having problems as you have done with 'rebound' pain is now a real issue

you should certainly take it up with the post op team when and if they call

I am surprised. I had two done simultaneously 14 years ago and no pain at all. I walked out of hospital the next day. I was only kept in overnight because I lived on my own.

Ok so mine was an open operation as opposed to keyhole but I couldn't walk without pain for at least two weeks. Its worth pointing out that the entry wound is not the only part to be considered for healing, you have most likely had a chunk of mesh sewn to your insides, I was off work for about 6 weeks.

Actually I think I was off for about a month but then on light duties for a further 2 weeks.

if the doctor prescribed/advised codeine take it at regular intervals, don't wait until you have the pain. take care,

I am back on the codeine, can barely move without it, but can move with it.
It's exactly 48 hours since my op now - I think I was expecting too much too soon.
