Possible Sprain Of Knee Ligament - Do I Need To See Doctor?

Hi - I seem to have done something to my knee on Saturday coming down the stairs. My knee just seemed to give way and the pain was quite acute - have managed to hobble about (just) but even the weight of the duvet on top of it hurts. Strangely it doesn't look swollen but I can barely put any weight on it. It is better this morning than yesterday but I have no confidence in it.

Do I need to go to the doctors or should it just heal itself. Just wondered if I needed to do some physio to stop it happening again?
Thanks

Get it checked out by the doc. If nothing else, he'll at least be able to prescribe some strong pain killers.

Knee not swollen or bruised......that would indicate that there is no significant damage.

Yes.........you can go to the doctor.

If it were me.......I would put a bag of frozen peas around the knee......rest with the leg elevated as much as possible and take Ibuprofen 400mgms every 6 hours and monitor the situation for the next week.

Thank you both - it is already loads better. Considering I was nearly having to drag myself along on Saturday night, I look positively nimble now!
Feedback much appreciated.
