A baby of around 6 - 7 months of age has developed flat head syndrome which is affecting the back of his head. Even his hair is being affected where it has grown quite long at the sides and on the top but he has lost all his hair at the back.
I seem to remember hearing in the past that it is caused from baby laying down too much. Is this right? It seems that baby spends most of time if not in cot ,in a baby bouncer seat.could this be causing it?...

hmm I don't know ivor. Thanks mazie that was helpful.I had heard of the helmets that babies can wear to improve the condition but it looks like that won't be an option as not available on the NHS. I may ask mum about whether baby gets much time on his belly and suggest it to her .
"Flat Head Syndrome?"

It used to be known as a baby with a flat head.........not uncommon.......now it is a "SYNDROME".

No big deal.
My nephew had the same problem. The head will reshape once the baby is sitting up more.
My grandsons both have this, the helmet used to reshape has to be purchased privately. They are now 7 and 5 and their heads have not reshaped at all. Once the skull is formed in that shape it rarely changes back on it's own.
