I presume everyone that voted got an email (?) but thought I'd post an extract here for those interested, just in case -

I voted for the hen harrier. The more publicity these birds get the better,as they are a persecuted species.

Owls are lovely birds but how many of us have ever seen one in real life? Robin and Blackbird should have been joint 1st.

I went for the wren - not as "sexy" as some of the others but I've always thought of it as our National Bird anyway.

The last time I saw one of the robins that live here, he was exchanging pleasantries with two starlings. They didn't seem too impressed and left the robin to play on his own.

According to R4 it was children influenced by Harry Potter that got the Barn Owl up there. Odd choice IMO. Had to be between robin and blackbird didn't it? My favourite is the long-tailed tit but that didn't get a mention :-(
