"...It also costs around £18,000 for a full top and bottom set of teeth, rather than around £40,000 for traditional implants."
I'd no idea they were so expensive. I'll have to continue with a diet of slops.

Why not dentures Sandy? :)

I have a partial upper plate but the teeth holding it in place are gradually decaying. I'm sure I've heard somewhere that a lower plate is rarely secure.
Having had an upper plate for sixty years, I would love implants, but way out of my price range.

Are you totally happy with dentures Bath ?
the Mail doesn't put dates on its online articles, but I suspect that one isn't new (it seems to be in smaller type than it normally uses).
@ canary... whoa whoa. steady on now,...who said I had dentures ? ;)

Sorry Bath, but from your question "Why not dentures" I drew a (flawed apparently) conclusion.
Buy a lottery ticket, Sandy. You might just get lucky.
@ canary,..lol, no worries!! Like sandy I have partials, both upper + lower, + yes sandy, you are correct,...the lower ones are not as secure as upper,...something to do with suction, I think :)

This question was prompted by an ad I saw in the local paper tonight. Their fee was €1,060 reduced to €699. But reading the small print I see that offer is for cases of more than 10 implants and the works carried out in Hungary.
Look for offers in Poland, polish dentists tend to be excellent...
tis fine to go abroad for implants but i would think hard about what you would do if anything went wrong during the waiting periods. I had one fail because of an intractable and longstanding infection. My dentist is a short drive away and he was able to sort the situation but goodness knows what i would have done if my dentist had been on another continent.

This doesn't answer the cost question but have a look at this, Sandy.

If you're considering using an East European dentist you might not have to travel abroad. They've got 'surgeries' in almost every town in the UK ;-)

that seems rather counter-intuitive... it's not as if you need teeth to eat a Big Mac anyway
European dentists are said to be good at this sort of thing, but you really need two or three trips (minimum) for the ops and followups, so it might not end up much cheaper than having it done at home. Still, look them up on Toothadvisor or whatever and see what patients think.
Toothadvisor ha ha!
If you are considering going abroad, the General Dental Council have this advice leaflet:
