Left Arm Pain- Does Tension Cause Muscle Pain
13 Answers
Hi there I have had a lot of stress recently. I went out for a coffee today with my mum and my sister (my sister I dont see often) it was quite a strong coffee. Anyway my sister and I dont get on well and all day the tension I was feeling towards her built up all day I know that when I am tense I hold my arms like a claw tensing myself. Later on this evening I had a massive fall out with my sister at my mums house. I went home and had a rant for an hour shouting at God. I then went to bed and woke up 30 minutes ago and i am getting this cramp like pain in my left arm near the bottom of my arm and my wrist but it is sore when I am typing this and a wee bit sore when I am moving it. I keep on imagining a heart attack but my pulse is normal and no other symptoms than this random pain. Is it normal to get this type of pain when stressed and anxious? I have done well so far tonight and not googled.

Last I heard, sqad is too ill to use the forum. Nobody else on AB has ever claimed to be a GP or surgeon or consultant. Mamya is the only one who has said they are in nursing and I don't know what hours she is on.
The rest of us can do nothing except hand out misleading and/or potentially harmful advice, which could end up costing us a roof over our head.
Ring the NHS 111 helpline, as it's still early morning.

LOL...Hypo, would you please let me know either on AB or by email, when i am ill and I will seek appropriate advice...;-) I am fine thanks.
gordie, the description of your pain is not in anyway characteristic of a "heart attack" and i agree with your comments that it is stress related.

I think that was my befuddled brain adding 2 + 2 and getting 5. I forget who it was but one or more of the regulars has mentioned being in nursing for several years, possibly in a thread about the NHS, rather than one of these medical complaint ones and, in haste, linked it to you.
The power of the avatar, eh? I only found out this week that New Judge isn't actually a judge. I'm so trusting, it's a wonder I'm not penniless.

geordiescotland, I hope your less stressed now. I know what it's like to get all worked up when a family member upsets you. Don't worry about shouting at God...he understands our different emotions. He has very broad shoulders and he loves you. He knows your situation and cares for you.
Have you ever thought of seeing a counsellor to talk over your anxieties? You never know, it might help and he will be able to teach you some relaxation techniques.
