I red on a website where people from Uk wrote who are currently 3-6 month in my country of origin (Hungary), that it is very difficult find friends there as people are very reserved there.
Well, most people there don't speak any other language than Hungarian.
...and people from here obviously don't speak Hungarian...But I do speak English and am in the country for 10 years now...and had never found a friend here..not even for a day.

If you are working or at college just try striking up a conversation , nothing heavy just general..

The more people you speak to the more likely it is you'll make friends.
Common interest are always a good starting point. If you like drinking in pubs, find one that serves real ale (or lots of bottled foreign beers) and where there are plenty of 'bar leaners'. Then try to strike up a conversation about what's the best beer to drink.

Similarly, if your interests are with sport, consider joining a badminton club, table tennis club or similar.

If you like the countryside, join a rambling club.

etc, etc.
We have a Hungarian at work - perfect English, and also speaks French and German.
