Toilet Making Humming Noise After It Is Flushed

When I flush my toilet after it fills up it makes a humming noise. I have tried running the cold water tap and after running it for about 10 mins the noise stops. I made sure that there was no air in the bathroom radiator but the noise still happens. Is there anything else I could try.

There is, or at least there should be, no connection between your cistern and your radiator!

When our toilet did that we had to replace the ballcock valve and that stopped it

I had this problem some months ago and it was cured quite simply by replacing the ball valve rubber washer. Due to constant use, the centre of the washer becomes slightly indented by the plastic shut-off plunger which results in a form of vibration or humming. To replace the washer simply turn of the water supply to the cistern and unscrew the large plastic securing ring to get access to the washer.

High water pressure causing the inlet valve to "bounce". I think the others have said it all, Mo.

Replace the inlet valve (easy, cheap DIY job if you fancy it.) If it happens again, you may have to consider reducing the mains pressure, but I doubt that it's necessary.
