Missing tooth

I was at the dentist this morning and had a tooth taken out, as i have a major fear of the dentist it wasnt a nice experiance to say the least but the tooth is in the  front and as it is I know I wont be able to smile, what are my options now should I see a specialist cosmetic dentsit will I have to have just one false tooth I did see on one programme a women had a titanium plate fitted a tooth screwed in anyone had this done is it really expensive?

Check with your dentist first - some dentists will replace front teeth under the NHS - nothing to loose by asking.

Sorry should have mentioned im in ireland so I know that our equivelant of the nhs will not cover it,is that �1000 just for 1 tooth wow.

I had both my front teeth out a long time ago and I have them  crowned. I think that what you call it. but if you have had the whole tooth out then you wouldn't be able to have this because it has to attach to some piece of tooth. Did your dentist not give you any options before he extracted it.

Maggie he didnt say anything he just removed the broken tooth he wasnt my regular dentist but I couldnt see her beacuse it was to far to go for an emergency, Im thinking i will just go and see her and see what she says Im just feeling really down because I know the expense involved now.

Maybe as it is a front tooth you could get help with replacing it as you could say something like it is causing you to feel self concious making you feel depressed. You read about people going to the doctors for different things and getting them done on the NHS because of self image. Worth a try.

Hi There

If the teeth either side are sound then you can have a simple bridge.  I have one towards the front which I had done on the NHS.

I would avoid implants.  I had one and it was quite unpleasant and they only have a short life span i.e. 5-8 years.

Initally, they should over you a simple false tooth to give the gums time to settle down and heal.  Again I had this after my implant and before my bridge.

Dont get down about it.  Speak with your dentist, they will understand and give you your options.
