Eyeliner Recommendation, Please

I don't usually use eyeliner, so I don't know what's out there.
Is there an eyeliner that won't run or smudge, that I can use on my upper lids? Can anyone recommend a good one, not too expensive, please?
I'm not sure if I want a liquid one, as I tried one years ago, and it looked quite shiny and harsh-looking. Thanks

I only wear eyeliner under my eyes, not on upper lids. But I am very happy with Asda's £2 eyeliner. They call it an eyeliner pencil, I think, and it comes in black, brown, green and blue. Even if it's not as great a quality as you're hoping for, you could at least practise your technique with it.

http://www.boots.com/en/Revlon/Eyes/Eye-liner/ I use two of the ones here. I use Luxurious Color in black on my upper lid and Colourstay in brown along the lower lashes. You can smudge the black one with a rubber that is on the end if you want but I don`t bother with that.

Maybelline Master Precise liquid eyeliner. An ultra fine brush that allows you to paint your eyeliner on just as you wish.

Marijin, what did you buy? I've just restocked with the eyeliner on the link I sent you, I tried a more expensive brand & have returned to the other one. It gives a nice fine jet black line.

My skin might be quite greasy. Did you put powder on underneath?

Yes Marijin, I do wear eyeshadow most of the time. I'm sure if you have oily skin applying either a little face powder or eyeshadow on your lid first will help x

I would only use a pencil one and then only lightly and only UNDER my eyes. Body Shop and No7 are both ok and not expensive. Barbara Day is also a good and cheap make but much harder to find.

For a cheap try that's actually really really good Rimmel Glameyes professional liquid liner. It comes with a very fine brush. As it's liquid it doesn't smudge at all and you can get a very fine line on upper eyelids and doesn't pull when you apply it. I've been using it for years for upper line and side flicks.
