brief sensations of pain

so...i was standing around the other day, and all of a sudden I feel this brief sensation of near-excruciating pain on the conjoint of my eye and nose (basically where they meet). It was short, 10 or so secs, and massaging alleviated it. Every now and then, I feel pain such as that...or pain that seems to be felt on some area of your brain.

What are these? Does anyone else every feel similar sensations? It's not too much of concern...I think it just has to do with human anatomy or biological structure or something. It got me thinking though - what could explain that...on a micro level?

It's probably something as simple as a sinus infection - your GP will check it out for you, and give you treatment if required.
