Have had this cough and bad chest for nearly two weeks after having the flu jab. The Dr says it is a viral infection. Paracetamol for the aching neck glands and back, steam inhalation with olbas oil, vick rubs on the chest. Neither I or my husband are getting any better, in fact my husband has taken to his bed as he is so bad. Has anyone out there experienced this, how long before we feel any relief? My husband is 77 and still works as a motor mechanic and had been hale and hearty all his life until prostate cancer struck two years ago. Hoping someone out there can reassure me.

Viral infections can be very persistent and the cough may go on for weeks.
As long as nether of you cough up blood or get really short of breath, then stay with it.
