Discoloured Teeth/Veneers
3 Answers
One of my front teeth was knocked and died a few years ago, I have since had it bleached, but the tooth has remained darkened. One or two of my other teeth are also slightly discoloured and I'm planning on getting my teeth veneered in the next month or two (once my braces are off!).
Has anyone had their teeth veneered? Can you recommend anywhere I can go to have it done (South-East area)? Cost? Were you pleased with the results?
Thank you!! :o)

I haven't personally had veneers but I've worked in dentistry for many years and have seen them done loads of times. The results usually always look good as long as you get a good colour match and they are not as destructive to the natural tooth as crowns. The teeth do need to be "shaved" down a little so the veneers don't look too bulky and you need to be aware that they are not going to last forever although you should get several years hopefully.
Cost wise it can vary, 100 to 500 and more depending on where you go. Could your own dentist do them for you? You don't need to go to a specialist for this type of treatment as it is a fairly straightforward procedure which all dentists should be capable of. Hope this is helpful!

I had my front tooth veneered this year. Like you it died some time ago and whilst whitening helped, it did not entirley solve it. i am very happy with mine (although last week i managed to ping it off whilst trying to bite through some tape. You have to remember that it is not a real tooth and act accordingly. i had mine done at the Neem Tree in Wandsworth, London but they send out for the veneer to someone in Harley Street. The veneer iteslf cost 375 and the associated work took it up to a bit under 500. The most traumatic bit for me was having the temporary one whilst they make the venner (they have to make the veneer to fit the tooth stump so they grind the tooth away first and make a mould). It just seemed to keep coming off!
I had my front tooth crack off and had a porcelain veneer put on it about 10 years ago - it was really natural looking and a perfect colour match. The dentist has a long thing with different tooth shades on it a gauges your colour from that. I even got mine on the NHS as I was a poor student at the time. I only had it changed last year because I cracked the corner off while doing something very stupid that I won't detail here. Also... veneers are what all the celebs get on all their teeth to make them look perfect and even,
