Hello Again-And Happy New Year To You All!

To anyone who may have been wondering about my absence from here - it is not the technical bods fault, I'm sure. Just before Xmas, svejk determined to enable me to post quotes from newspapers. I got encouraged and decided to really have a go at conquering my technophobia. I drew a breath and hit the first key in the instructions- the screen went black. I decided that the machine was probably worried about my new probings, so switched it off and left it until the next day - when restarted it showed nothing but a pale blue screen!


Turned out that the 'graphics board' had died. So, eventually, I bought a new laptop (decent price) and it has sat in its box until yesterday, when someone put in 2 and a half hours to help me get it going.

I'm really struggling with this keyboard and Windows 10.It was all so much easier a few years ago.

I had hoped to make the Xmas party and sat there in my tinsel bikini until all hope was gone. (Taken me ages to type this, hate this version.)

Welcome back, Two and half hours seems quite fast, not knowing about lap-tops but takes me about three days on PC A lot of stuff on external hard drive. Happy new year to you too.

Thank you, Arksided. Turned out that the lady who helped had been in at the beginnings of computers (she's about my age) and been responsible for IT at her school - even she was baffled by some bits. EG I write stories and she was unable to find me anywhere I could write them - back to the A4 pad! :)x

Cupid04 - I was quite happy with Windows 7, too. This has been forced on me and it is definitely not easy- keep resisting as long as poss. :)

ShaonA - you are joking aren't you? It is taking all I've got to type on here. I have discovered, however, how to open one window whilst keeping the original open, so that has to be a good start. I didn't know that before. :) x
