I'd appreciate any advice please Sqad. 10 days ago I organised a reunion weekend so was talking a lot and lost my voice completely - laryngitis? My OH already had the throat/ coughing/head cold virus which everyone seems to have got at the moment.

After I lost my voice, I had a tickly cough for several days and then my voice started to come back gradually but it is still not right - it's left me with a weak hoarse voice which keeps coming and going. I think I've maybe over strained it as I had to carry on talking to everyone at the reunion in a whisper - I was so exhausted trying to talk. Is there anything you can recommend to take please to lubricate my throat - I have tried neat honey and a friend has recommended Sandersons throat specific mixture (expensive but willing to try) My cough has now gone and I don't have any pain or discomfort - just a croaky voice on and off. Thanks for any advice.

My advice is not to take anything...........nothing will "lubricate" your vocal cords.
Speak normally, don't whisper or shout and your voice should be back to normal within a fortnight.

Thanks Sqad, OH is delighted I can't shout at him! ;) Hope it's back soon, it's difficult as I have to speak a lot on the phone. Thanks for answering so quickly - much appreciated x
