Anyone Taking Apple Cider Vinegar For Health Benefits?

I've heard a lot about the alleged benefits of this with claims of it aiding digestion, weight loss, detox etc. Interestingly one advocate even suggests using it for indigestion discomfort because the stomach needs more acidity when processing food, not less. The vinegar would obviously provide this.
Any thoughts?

You just reminded me that I need to get some, thanks. Supposed to be good for just about everything. Apparently it's good for acid reflux, that's why I'm going to try it. Will let you know the benefits....
No reliable medical evidence to suggest that apple cider vinegar plays any part in the healing or preventative aspect of any disease.

However.....your money.

Sqad: Yes that's the impression I got from trying to research it. I don't think it hurts to keep an open mind with some of these though. I think there are plenty of us who put our faith in conventional medicine yet also aren't too naïve to think they have all the answers. Although Pharma is big business these days, many drugs have humble origins. Also I was thinking more of the possible lifestyle benefits rather than disease treatment. Thanks for your comment.

Patsy33: I've only ever used it in cooking a few years ago and I remember the strong smell! Makes me wonder how people can drink it so yes I'd be interested to hear how you get on. Thanks.

Thanks Peter. Perhaps it pickles parts other medicines cannot reach and helps you live longer!
So the medical profession CAN'T FIND evidence to suggest that apple cider vinegar plays any part in the healing or preventative aspect of any disease.

That's the same medical profession which CAN'T FIND a cure for the common cold.
Canary........CORRECT.
I have used it many times for sore throats and indigestion. But remember you need to use the one from health shops with the " mother" . That 's the bits and pieces in it. Unrefined I think. Normal cooking apple cider vinegar will not work. I have used it when I had cystitis once too. I always have a bottle in. For a sore throat you need to gargle with it ( diluted )

Thanks for your opinions everyone.
Question for Sqad: why do so many ABers come to you for health advice? Just curious. Are you a doctor?
He is a retired distiguished physician
Sqad's a retired....consultant?....is that right, Sqad....with lots of knowledge and interest in finding out for you....and a really, really blunt and sharp bedside manner.....which makes his advice a darn sight more useful than the advice from the smarmy consultant you pay £300 to for.....well nothing in the end.....☺
Pairwise......yes, retired medic, handsome with devastating charm and sex appeal.
Hmmm.....I don't know about that last bit, Pairwise....yet........x
And modest with it!
