Islam Sexist?
22 Answers
This is the reply I got on youtube when I replied sceptically to a statement that islam was not sexist...
/Are you serious? Is that what you understood from this video, wow, this video is so straight forward, it takes skills to misunderstand it. ISLAM is not based on sexism, sexism has nothing to do with ISLAM sexism has nothing to do with a religion, its just part of human nature. Doesn’t matter what religion you believe in if you are human then sex is part of your nature. You can have as much sex as you want as long as its with your wife, otherwise it is adultery and that is against ISLAM just like it is against all religions (including Christianity and Judaism). What he means is when a man looks at a women, sexual thoughts will come to his mind, (especially if the women is very attractive) and that is part of a mans nature, no one can deny that, just like what he said, if a man were to say sexual thought don’t come to my mind when I look at women then he should see a doctor because something is wrong with him, he is not normal. ISLAM is a religion of peace and respect, all the girls/women I look (sexually) is somebodies mother, wife, sister, daughter so ISLAM says do not look at women who is not part of your family, relative, close one (basically anyone whom I wont look at sexually), and show respect, (this is something westerners wont understand because you guys don’t mind other men checking out your wives, daughters, sisters, etc. I live in a western country and I know so many men who show off with their wives looks, and its disgusting), so if women were to sit on my right or left then I have to turn the other side not to look at them, I will probably have neck pain after 20 min ;) its just going to cause problems for men and also for women too, who are not allowed to look at men sexually as well other than their husband, so why make men and women sit side by side and cause difficulty for both sides when you can separate both sexes so both sexes can comfortably sit and enjoy the program. Now look at it from this perspective./
Some way to go eh?

It is ridiculous to consider that Islam has nothing to do with sexism when such different roles are prescribed for men and women. He compares this with other Abrahamic religions to suggest that it is universal. All it shows is that blatant sexism is a foundational part of the Abrahamic cults.

I could never see what is wrong with self-control. It really doesn't matter what you feel or what your mental reactions are, so long as you control yourself.
Never mind how tempted you might feel, there was never any justification in giving way to illicit temptation. But, alas, some religionists seem to think that because they feel tempted, the sin has already been committed, so - hey - go ahead !
