hubby has his works van stolen 2 weeks ago with all tools and equipment in it, thieves will be making some mega money , police wouldnt even come out to see hubby and get details just gave him crime no over phone , it was really bugging him he was driving round looking for it every spare minute , his manager told him to let it go its one of those things but if leaves you feeling mugged off, anyway believe it or not he found it not far from where we live , it had been stripped name of company taken off parts had been resprayed, but hubby knew it was his van as he had had a slight bump on front and his mate had marked the side door hitting something that left a red mark , called police who came hour and half later ( we sat watching van in case it got moved ) hubby told them he knew it was his van from the bumps and marks and also the dead lock key fitted in back door but police coudnt get it in their head that a dead lock key dead locks the door it does not open it ! so said the key didnt prove anything , they checked the reg no which of course had been changed and said it was registered and insured which of course it would be as they had copied it off another vehicle, omg i could not believe it when they said they couldnt do anything , told hubby to get in touch with manager next day and get the vin no if it matches they they can seize van , i said to police officer i will make you a bet come bak in an hour and that van will be gone , he said why shud it be gone its insured and registered , hubby went back hour later sure enuff it was gone ! never been seen again , they have since rang us after manager complained to police and told us they went to the address and spoke to the person it supposedly belonged to and he said he did have a van with that reg no but he sold it and he dont know why it was parked by his house , grrr we should of just took the law into our own hands that was our van now its gone for good feel so angry and mugged off low life scum of the earth theives probably never done a days work in their life make me sick !!!

Sorry to hear this Tezmand. There are some scum out there and I am not surprised about the police not coming out initially.
When my elderly dad got mugged, they barely spent half an hour getting info and to this day the scum have not been caught.
Question Author
makes you sick doesnt it sharona
What is really sickening is nicking a works van.
Sorry to hear this, not only did they get the van, but they got the tools too.
The police must have realised the van wouldn't be there for long.
So , to clarify , who owned the van and tools ?
Tezmand , I can understand how annoyed you are, its a sad reflection on how the the police force has had to decide what crime is more important ! Its not always the same as the victims idea. In my area its muggings and break ins and it can be hours sometimes longer before a policeman will deal with you.
They say they have to deal with things in a certain way and sometimes that goes in the criminals benefit !
Yet another occasion when our boys in blue excelled themselves !

Hubby should make a formal complaint.

( I would have been tempted to let a tyre or two down, thus delaying any departure )
Question Author
Hubby works for western power so can belongs to them as did tools there was some stuff that was personal and belonged to hubby and yes wish we had slashed tyres
Question Author
Van that shud say not can lol
Tez....I am not advocating slashing ! Just let the bloody air out !
Question Author
Lol mikey4444 I know u said let air out but slashing would of made me feel better least they wud av to shell out for more tyres
nephew had expensive supermoto bike stolen.he found it on e bay told police where it was and who seller was with address and phone number..not interested did nowt...have no faith in plod these days
Tez...I was just thinking that although the olds weren't keen on coming out, I wouldn't mind betting that they would be there like a shot if you were reported as slashing the tyres !
Question Author
Exactly mikey4444 bet I'd be in court. Quicker than them helping me
Seems to be the way the cops operate these day's with burglaries, car / van thieving. Just give the victim a crime number so that they can claim from their insurers. Not right though imo.
