My wife and daughter have both just been diagnosed with this.
Reading the information on it seems to suggest it is a 'cover all' for a huge range of problems.

Is this a genuine condition or has it been invented to cover anything the doctors can't pin down to anything else.

I have to say that once I got as far as the rheumatologist (I assume you've seen one?) I've never been met with doubt from professionals although there will always be non medics who view you as a whinger or that you're exaggerating your symptoms.
Do your own research, I have to say the US has been way ahead on this but this country has improved greatly recently.
