It's in a wooden case, quite big and bongs every quarter hour, the dial is marked Morath Brothers, and when we had it restored a number of years ago the guy who did it offered to buy it at what I consider to be a knockdown price. It wouldn't have mattered how much he offered, it's never going to be sold.
I love clocks and think they all have their own personalities, this one of ours refused to bong in our first house. It tick tocks beautifully now.

Stuey, it bongs whatever the time is on the hour...four bongs for four o'clock, etc...and every quarter of an hour it ding dongs...ding dong for quarter past, ding dong ding dong for half past, etc. It's all inlaid, has copper tops on the four wooden pillars, and brass inlaid in the wood and brass feet. It's maybe eighteen inches high and about a foot wide and deep. The pendulum is brass, and the clock has red silk behind the side brass bits. The winding key is almost as beautiful as the clock. My grandad bought it for my grandma and I'm convinced it has a soul...
That's really interesting about Morath Brothers and ties in with what little I know about it.
