Went to hospital today. He had an X-ray then saw the consultant.
All the cancer has gone. He has a 60% chance of living 5 years. That takes into account the cancer and all other things in life.
The question of chemo came up. Normally tumours that are 40 mm in size do not need it.
Guess what? HIs was 41mm. Awkward or what eh!!
Doctor said if he had chemo there was a possibility the 60% could increase to 63%.
On the other hand, chemo makes you feel ill, lowers your immune system and you could get all sorts of infections.
OH has made the decision, no chemo. I don't blame him at all. Doctor agreed he thought it was the right way to go.
He will see him again at 4 monthly intervals and to have another scan in twelve months.
So what a weight to be lifted from our shoulders. He can start to live properly again.
He is improving daily. Still gets tired and out of breath after any exertion but doctor said that is natural after what he went through. That will improve with time.
So for now things look good.
Diet will play a huge role now in his return to health, so plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables should be the way forward. If he struggles with dietary intake ask your Oncologist to prescribe Fortisips and Fortijuice.
