Call me an old cynic . . . (yes, please do, 'cos it's entirely accurate!) . . . but I note that the 'evidence' for the dental benefit of coconut oil seems to come solely from the
Nigerian Medical Journal. While I'm sure that that are many wholly honest and entirely ethical people in that beautiful country, Nigeria does have a certain reputation for being the world capital of cons!
Call be a boring nerd . . . (yes, once again, wholly accurate!) . . . but I'm one of the few people who actually spends a lot of time reading scientific reports and I know the difference between a valid summary and 'sales pitch'. The following simply doesn't read like a 'proper' scientific report to me:
"This preliminary study shows that coconut oil is an easily usable, safe and cost effective agent with minimal side effects which can be used as an adjuvant in oral hygiene maintenance"
