I suffer from acid reflux from time to time and for the most part is controlled with omeprazole. The last couple of days, when I breathe in my breast bone and back feels sore. It's probably inflamed oesophagus. Does anyone else get this and what can be done to settle it down? Should I worry about this??

Sorry forgot heading. Acid Reflux. Also my throat hurts with it....
Doesn't sound a big deal to me, as if you have had the diagnosed confirmed, it just sounds as though you are having a flare up.......gone off your diet, had an extra glass of gin.
It will settle with omeprazole and no, you shouldn't worry.

Thank you Sqad. It's just that I haven't experienced soreness this bad before. Unfortunately, it's medication for anxiety and depression that causes it. Also I have the occasional glass or two of white wine! Apparently, one of the most acidic thing I could have. Looks like one of my little pleasures in life may have to go.....
I have had the same thing for some years now. And the sort of things that sets mine off worse is white wine....but only some. It seems to be the cheaper ones some time that cause it... or if I have a glass of wine and it tastes very acid ...I know it will start me off so try not to drink it...Which wines do you drink? Also lasagne later on at night...say after 8..will keep me awake all night.. or anything of richer flavour... curries I can only eat early evening... Try not eating too late and then going to bed.....good luck.x

Hi Lilacben, I usually go for Print Grigio. Bought an organic one from Sainsburys, which I thought might be better for me. I was worse! Could have been a coincidence. Also had a curry Saturday night, a relatively mild one. It was about 8.30 too. Sometimes I get away with it others times not! Have you tried an alternative drink that doesn't cause you to suffer??

Blasted predictive text! Pinot Grigio......
There's no reason not to take over-the-counter antacids alongside your Omeprazole - boring old BiSodol works very well indeed for me when I occasionally get reflux.

I do have Lansoprazole as a fallback if things get worse, but the BiSodol tablets actually work pretty quickly on most occasions.

Thanks for that Sunny-dave. I do take Gaviston sometimes which helps a bit. I have to be careful not to over do it with certain food and drink, which I'm sure you probably know!
