Wrong Bank Account ?
23 Answers
Mr Alba and I are in an arrangement with Sheriff Officers (council tax)
However, the young alb received a letter this morning from his account advising him that they had tried to freeze his account.
Mr Alba and the younger have the same name, I'm fizzing mad apart from having to wait until Monday to contact SO's
Any advice on how to explain to them that they've got this wrong and the young alba wants his £25 back from the bank which was debited from his account?
Many thanks

Obviously they have found the wrong bank account. Speak to your bank now.

thank you both for your replies. Words will be said when humans are around on Monday to reply to the usual 5 mins wait, if you are lucky.
Would have thought the plonker who wanted money paid would have made sure the birth date for account holder matched the person who owed the money.
Much obliged for your time

tried to freeze or actually freeze it
Young alb should know if he has a CCJ against him
it could be something else
he should then allege negligence thro the usual channels
there is after all nothing he could have done
The usual thing for banks is numbers only so if the numbers correspond the bank will try to resist a claim
however he cd demand a copy of the 'order' since .... it is his data ( !! )
you probably cant act on his behalf as a result of Data Protection
You should contact the sheriffs and go down the complaint root
and allege negligence again
they clearly have to show due diligence before doing this
for obvious reasons
and clearly you need to try to clear the debt ....

Bear in mind BACS is usually numbers only
- only if they HAD looked at the name they would have seen ... it tallied
if your son has a credit card it may be worth applying for a letter of dissociation

What about this for a plonker - received my contents insurance this morning and they have my birth date as 1900 - so I am 116 years old and also a Clerical Assistant which I never was ever ever.

When you get on to the bank ask them for compensation for their error - I was told about 10 years ago by someone in the know that £50 is a good amount to ask for as it requires minimal authorisation. I've tried it myself a couple of times and it works. The £50 may have increased by now but best to play safe. If they mess about just let them know there's plenty of banks out there which would like your custom and swapping banks is easy nowadays.
very many thanks for comments and advice.
Eventually got hold of nice lady at SO's - as suggested they were fishing and got the wrong Alba
So much for a bunch of professionals anyhoo
he needs to send in a copy of his bank statement (as if that's going to happen, that's private, and a copy of birth cert which isn't a problem. When I told her that Mr Alba's dad had the exact same name and lived in the same road she was quite surprised.)
Advice and comments were most appreciated folks, many thanks xx
