Who Lives With A Snorer? : (

I'm not the best sleeper anyway, but Mr smow has crept back into his snoring ways and badly! I've literally been awake all night apart from 20 mins and short of dragging a duvet downstairs am not sure what to try(apart from putting it over his face!! ). We've tried those silly nose strips, some daft tablet things, making him sleep on his side.......nothing is working. Any ideas before I strangle him??

That is not good smow. All I can recommend is sleeping in another room. Or ear plugs. You can buy small ones that do the job.

my oh snores really loud I put up with it for years then I put weight on and started snoring ,so if you can't beat them join them lol x

Yes he is overweight and I've tried tackling him about it but he's just burying his head in the sand(actually that would stop the snoring!!)

I suspect one needs to know the cause of the snoring before one can come up with a likely solution. I think there are contraptions he can wear; and there are operations to stiffen up the palate.

But I suspect more practically, best things to try first is what WBM has suggested. Maybe both together.

I live by myself apart from two Rottweilers, I can hear one of them sore even through a closed bedroom door, not sure which one it is as it never happens when I'm up and about.

I'd like to lose a stone at most but he needs to lose several - at least!think it's going to have to be a bit of tough love me thinks!

It's not just weight related though. Mine does it when he has a cold and it drives me crazy. I've worried that if he did it all the time I'd have to move into a different room. For now I just gradually kick him harder and harder. It is exhausting for the listener.

Mine OH just has small bouts of snoring so it's bearable and he's much worse when he falls asleep on the sofa but I just turn the telly up.

I have the same problem. One time on holiday I tried to sleep in the bath because of OH's snoring. He's overweight and drinks quite a bit. He's tried the nose strips etc.
He sleeps in a different room, now. Peace and bliss! Except when we're on holiday and have to share a room.

my spanish girlfriend who i've been living with for 9 years now, has started to snore big time, the problem is it creates a vibration through the mattress!!
she isn't particularly fat or big.

Some time ago, I attended a CBT course which dealt with sleep problems among other things. We were told that if you can make a recording of the snoring and play it back as you doze on the sofa for half an hour or so each day for a couple of weeks you eventually become 'immune' to the sound and will sleep through it. I've never tried this so no idea if it works. I just opted to sleep in the spare room.

I acn't believe that would work with Mr. Sam. It is nothing to do with hom be overweight ( Mr Sam ) he's virtually the same weight when we met 42 years ago. The curious thing is, some nights it's a nightmare ( no pun intended) and sometimes he's so quiet I check he's still breathing. It's not alcohol related either. But seperate rooms seem to be looming.
