One minute I'm fine, cooking the evening meal. Then when I sat down to eat, my foot suddenly starts hurting along the outer edge and across the instep like a sprain. I didn't fall, slip or twist it so how can it just flare up without warning? Mr L sprang into action with the elastic bandage, Deep Heat and painkillers, and after an hour or so elevating the foot, it feels a little easier but still not right. Any ideas on how it happened?

Oi, I told ya it wasn't my foot Red isn't my colour ya know.
It's probably boaty's foot or The Builder's - maybe even Zac's.....

Elina - hope it's not a post mortem - I'm not dead yet!
As it happens, I have got red toenails at the moment, but my feet are much prettier :)

I knew Red would suit someone, losgigs ;-)

Hope your foot gets better soon.

Well you can and the most commonest cause would be bunions (have you got them?) or developing arthritis.

Cuboid ligament damage is a cause...rare...and usually follows an injury.

Time will tell.......in the meantime Ibuprofen would seem to me to be the drug of choice.

Thanks sqad - thankfully no bunions and I hope am not developing arthritis but unfortunately have reached an age where that could happen.

Tony - Thanks and pleased to report that after a night's rest all is fine today, barely a twinge. Will try not to do anything too strenuous today. Thanks to all. x
