I have just found out (after 5 days of agonising ear ache) that i have eczema in my ears. Ive never heard of this happening before and wondered if anyone has any advice to prevent it from coming back (the doc told me that once you have it, it will definately re-occur)  thanks peeps

Try taking a zinc supplement daily, this should reduce the chances of reoccurence

thanks chazza, i will definately try that, i couldnt handle this happening regularly

i know what its like!  i used to have it, thankfully now it only flares up when i'm really stressed.  Good diet will also help manage it, green veg and red meat.

Also get hydrocortisone cream from your dr, its excellent

Pixi. Both myself and my daughter had bad excema in our ears and also a friend of my daughter's. Turned out it was the shampoo we were using Pantene. We all stopped using it..excema went!!
Our daughter has Eczma in her ears, and we use Aquecia cream, (sorry about the spelling) it works for her,

morning chazza, someone at work yesterday suggested hydrocortisone cream, funny that I had never heard of ezcema in ears but when I went to work and mentioned it, it seemed loads of people knew someone who had it.

Hi FINA, glad to hear that your ezcema has gone, thinking about it, mine may be down to the earplugs I have to wear at work (they always make my ears really itchy) I used proper ear defenders yesterday much to the amusement of my workmates ( I looked like clunk from the Stop The Pigeon Cartoon lol)

Hi chessman, thanks for the advice, this is so painful I have decided to try everything I can.  I really hope your daughter doesnt get it too bad, it is truly excruciating

Hi Pixi   my daughter used to have eczema virtually everywhere. Hydrocortisone cream was very effective but just temporarily suppressed the eczema as it cropped up somewhere else. She has now given up all dairy foods and does not get eczema at all, only when under quite a bit of stress or near long-haired animals or horses and then only inside her arms. She also has acupuncture occasionally. Do use shampoos that do not contain any chemicals. Use Neways, Lush, Paul Mitchell or any organic shampoo from good health shops.

Hope this helps  Jan B
