If all goes well....2-3 days in hospital......2 weeks for recovery and depending upon your job, then back to work in six weeks.
If all goes well, as i am sure it will.........good luck.
Is worry kicking in?

Even for minor ops it's suggested a few weeks recovery so like Sqad says I would guess a good 6 weeks.

You can't drive for 6 weeks after having a C section and your op will be just as invasive.

Oh yes ummmm

Not aided by the fact my boss is not telling me if he will take action against me for being absent from work!

Driving will be an issue as I need to drive to get to work! I had estimated 4 weeks recovery time - now worried incase its longer!!
Hi islay..your health is more important so how long it takes to recover so be it..best wishes for a quick recovery x
What kind of action could your boss take?
What Bernie said :)

How long does your boss think you should be absent for?
Question Author
I could get a formal warning for being off sick.

1 month formal warning
2nd month further warning
3rd month decision maker for possible dismissal!

My boss has not yet told me how long he is planning on giving me!
Surely he has to give you what the doctor recommends...
I was told the recovery would be 4-6 weeks if it was keyhole but more if the op turned more invasive. My gallstones were approx 20mm apparently.
I wanted to be fitter and didnt have the op while I exercised.
Still not had it 7 years on.

Thanks and I know what the rules are but the sick rules are in our T&C's now there is some byball but my boss is a bit of a dick and will read the guidance as the bible!!
i think that unecessary Ops don't get given the same consideration as essential. (not that im being rude about your op, but from what you said before, it's not available to you on hte NHS and you sought a private provider for it) My work would class that as cosmetic, even if i didnt
Question Author
Its not available on the NHS where I live but it is if I move 200 miles!
I had two weeks off after my gallbladder removal and I really needed it. That was what was recommended in a note that I was give after my operation to give to work, two weeks off and a phased return.

I have no idea about the other surgery though.

Update,

My boss has given me 14 days off after that all time off will be counted as sick and dealt with in the appropriate manner!
hope it goes well for you..
