It's not that high. Was recorded at that when I lived in France, doctor said 'Eat a bit less cheese'. Oh - and 'drink a glass of good quality red wine a day!'
A bit high.....no big deal.
I didn't know that you could get "home kits" for cholesterol levels, certainly not for LDL (Low density lipoprotein) which is said to be the culprit for heart disease and strokes.
I dont know how they control for quality - it is possible they just state it is of high quality and so diddly squat else ( sort of "trump mode")
you should also google whether there is "added value" in cholesterol reduction
see sqad there may not be
and whether doing home tests is a good way of achieving it all
( sort of like home pregnancy tests ( which work ! ) are not really a great way of testing efficiency of contra ception)
glucostats - which monitor blood glucose are not that good for controlling diabetes ( altho it should be perfect ) as lot of users just document terrible control of diabetes and do nothing about it ( apparently)
5.9 is slightly higher then recommended reading of 4.9 - 5 and possibly this figure could come down by adjusting diet. I would enquire at Boots Chemist if you really feel you need one. Can you not ask your surgery for another test in 6 months to monitor it.
