Dizziness On Getting Up

OH has been getting dizziness when he gets up in the mornings, it happened a week ago, then rest of the week he was fine, but then yesterday and this morning, it's returned, anyone have any ideas what could be causing it.

How old is you OH?
Is he on any medication? e.g BP tablets.
Are these dizzy does always associated with getting up in the morning, or can they come on at any time?
How long do they last....secs? mins?

I am not a doctor so don't wish to step on sqad's toes, but could he be dehydrated? I know if I don't drink enough and then go to sleep I wake up feeling slightly dizzy.

He's 71 Sqad and yes he's on Rampril, and yes only on getting up he's fine, while he's in bed, it's just when he gets up, he sits on edge of bed before he can stand up.

It stays with him most of the morning, he feels lightheaded for quite a while, he eats and drinks ok.

You don't say what strength of Ramipril that he is on, but at 71 yrs of age he certainly needs the medication.
Well....it certainly sounds like the side effects of his BP drug, but my advice.....live with the dizziness......get used to it.
If it becomes a problem then go back to you GP who may well reduce his dose.

My advice remains.......stick with it and monitor the situation for the next few weeks.

Doing some gentle leg exercises and getting up in stages could help minimise the dizziness.

Maybe it could be vertigo. Ear infection. Low sugar or Vitamin D deficient. Hope it gets sorted. Visit the GP.

Hi thank you, It turned out to be vertigo, he was given some medication, and seems a lot better.

emmie....first of all welcome back..........sincerely.....I would be very interested to know what has happened to you [email protected] that is a throwaway email address.You needn't reply if you feel so inclined and i will understand.

Now...vertigo is a symptom....not a diagnosis and in itself is meaningless.
