In the piece she shows a basic NHS prosthesis and mentions the texture and weight.

After Mastectomy not every lady wants further surgery.

Baby wool is extremely soft.

I use these Knitted Knockers and promote them quite often on my facebook page, NHS or in my case HSE prosthesis are uncomfortable, heavy, you can't have a swim with them, even with a correct fitting bra, the supplied prosthesis can often slip down, before Knitted Knockers I'd perfected the art of swinging my arm over me in such a way that it hid, the imbalance, I had the reconstructive surgery while getting the mastectomy, still, it was obvious something was amiss, these ladies knit these with the motto being 'a gift from one woman to another', it sure is a gift, even though they are based in UK (there are others online using same name but not the real charity the OP is showing) when I put in my order my knitter is in the Republic, in fact she's only up the road from me and a lovely lady, sometimes she might throw in a little lipgloss, or a lady gift just to perk your day, I wouldn't be without my knitted knocker for the life of me, it's restored my confidence to walk tall (at 5"2 :) ) they set up workshops sometimes on Saturdays in (usually) a John Lewis store, the talk to you and explain how they don't cause itch, it's not baby wool, it's regular, the filling keeps you cool, does the job - I cannot recommend these enough to any lady (or gent - there are many) to contact this charity and a few bob thrown there way wouldn't go amiss either, they deserve it

Thanks Mamya, they're one of the small forgotten charities, I can't promote them enough, some folk wouldn't leave their house without their make up on, I'd not get out of my bedroom without my KK, it's so soft, if I bumped into anyone (literally) I've no worry of something dropping like a wet fish, no one knows I wear it and people that remembered me when I had the cancer, now look and try recall where did I have it

What a wonderful post, Ducksie......I've know about knitted knockers for some time and often thought how much better they must be than the NHS inserts......so good to hear from you that they are and that they've helped you so much.......

Thanks gness, mine are pink with purble back on it, they knit to whatever you ask, if I wanted a butterfly knitted on it, the also crochet but I'm not a lover of crochet under the bra, the knitted is more, trying to think of another word for holistic, it's more natural, if you go to one of their fundraising chats you can get keyrings and all sorts knitted, those popular little handbag ornaments and stuff

I'm up to my eyes in twiddle muffs. prem baby stuff and dresses for Africa just now.....but I will try these before long.....x

Thank you, I would love it if more people were aware of it, if they knew of survivors and showed them this link, it's all done voluntary and as we know, wool is not cheap, donations are always needed, I never mind donating as I have great use of them, I can't believe I'm reading about them on AB though, I return the compliment choux, for raising awareness

When my dear late wife had a mastectomy the hospital supplied her with a prosthesis & we bought new bras with a pocket where the artificial breast fitted into, I cannot see the point of knitted ones.
