Has anyone any experience of using a bedwetting alarm with kids. My 10 year old grandson still wets and we were thinking of trying one to help to cure it?

Many years ago I made such a device to help my son to stop wetting the bed and it worked immediately. You will need two pieces of metal mesh, each about 12 inches by 12 inches, and the mesh should be as close as possible. It will need the edges bound with a stout webbing to cover the cut ends of the mesh. Run a single core flex from each and make a electrical circuit with a battery and front door bell. Place the two mesh pads in the appropriate position in the bed with a cloth between them all under the bottom sheet. As soon as the cloth becomes wet it will complete the electrical circuit, the bell will ring and awake the child.
How do they help? The child still wets the bed.
At 10 are you sure there no under lying issues?
My son was desperate to stop the habit and by waking him he then went to the toilet. As I mentioned, he stopped wetting the bed within days.
As Ummm states, perhaps at 10 there are other causes - he is stressed, ill or has he been taken to the Dr's about this.
What does his parents say about using an alarm on their child?
Have they tried the nothing to drink after a certain time route?
What have his parents done (eg - doctor's)?

We've done all the below except the alarm and nothing works. He has been to the doctors who recommended an alarm but so far no alarm.
The only underlying problem is his parents split about 6 years ago acrimoniously and the arguments persist constantly.
Thanks for all the answers so far
Some years ago we used an alarm for my daughter who was about the same age as your grandson....no underlying problems. It worked very quickly for her. I can recommend them.
I was a bed wetter and the hospital recommended one of these and it was a complete failure I just grew out of it as I got older
When my daughter was six the doctor gave her some medicine, sorry can't remember what it was called, but it worked, it took about a week, but no problems after that.
Tracie ^^^ almost certainly Merbentyl.
Thanks sqad, I'll mention that to daughter. Grandson (8 next month|) is still in bed-time nappies - and I won't have him to stay until he is dry. No underlying reasons.
^^^ Bigger problem is that he has just moved up to Cubs and can't go on any overnight adventures.
I wonder if the acrimonious split of his parents and the arguments might be causing him stress and have something to do with the bedwetting problems, seek professional help from GP and other medical professionals.

Why not wear Tena or such pads. He might just have a weak bladder
