Yesterday I noticed that my right eyeball was quite red. Today, it's gunky, red and the lid is quite swollen. I remember when I was little, my Mum used to bathe my eye in dissolved boric acid. Can you still get that?

237SJ......no idea about boric acid.......but it sounds like acute conjunctivitis and i would use chloromycetin Opth ointment.

Hi Sqad. I`m off to get some antibiotic lotion but the trouble is, it has to be refrigerated which isn`t easy when I`m on the move which I will be tonight as I have to go to work. I`m just trying to get the puffiness down so that it doesn`t look to hideous.

I was offered an ointment last time but the thought of putting ointment right into the eye seemed a bit strange.

Result - my eye seems to be OK now. I have just looked back at this post and I was talking garbage. I meant drops and not lotion. Anyway, my eye seems to have settled down.
